It was a poor campaign for Arsenal last time out and the Gunners fans lining the bar here in the Tavern are looking for vast improvements next time out.
The Gunners couldn’t break into the top four in the Premier League last season which means Europa League football is coming to the Emirates. It’s a bitter blow for manager Arsene Wenger, who remains a divided figure at the club these days, despite signing a new two-year contract extension a couple of weeks ago.
But there’s a real test ahead for the Gunners next season as they aim to keep pace with the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham in the race for the Premier League title and there’s one man that’s looking like he won’t be part of proceedings moving forward.
The man in question? Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesnsy, who, according to the Daily Mirror, looks set to join Juventus in the coming weeks.
Gianluigi Buffon is the man behind the rumours after he confirmed in a press conference before Italy’s game against Lichtenstein that the Pole will be his understudy next season.
I’ve always been a rational person and I’ve always looked for the meaning of things. It’s right that Juve want Szczesny and that there is a good player like Donnarumma at the national team,” he said
So with Szczesny seemingly on his way out of the Emirates, how will that change Wenger’s summer transfer plans when it comes to bringing someone in to understudy for Petr Cech in the first-team?
