According to talkSPORT, Italian international Ignazio Abate is set to fully commit his future to AC Milan leaving Arsene Wenger to find a new right back to step in for the injured Mathieu Debuchy.
Punters in the tavern have always believed that the Italian has been a priority for Wenger ever since the departure of Bacary Sagna to Manchester City but the Frenchman ended up settling for Newcastle United’s Debuchy as a replacement instead.
But with the long-term injury to Debuchy, the 27-year-old would have been an ideal replacement but sadly for the Gunners, his new deal is set to keep him at the San Siro until 2018.
Arsenal were set to lock horns with Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus in January as they were also interested in snapping up Abate.
But now Milan are going to end any sort of January transfer fight and they have done a great job to ward off interest from the elite clubs from around Europe given the Rossoneri’s fall from grace.
Arsenal fans. Should the Gunners continue to deploy Calum Chambers at right back and wait for Debuchy to return instead of signing a replacement? Let us know your thoughts below.
