Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keeping tabs on Brazilian left back Guilherme Siqueira, say Italian media sources.
The defender currently plies his trade with Spanish La Liga side Granada whom he joined on a permanent basis during the summer.
He previously played for Udinese in Serie A and holds Italian citizenship. The 25-year-old currently has more than three years left on his current contract.
If United make a move for the Brazilian he is likely to be an understudy for Patrice Evra, but Manchester United’s real problem have been shall we say the ‘sluggish’ development of Rafael and Fabio da Silva. Whilst good, they haven’t been exceptional and the United jersey carries a burden of responsibility.
Is he any good? Well this is his very first season in the top flight of Spanish football and given his age, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to say he was on schedule. Great young defenders are as we know, rarer than hen’s teeth.
Will this happen? Well, Sir Alex’s brother Martin was reported to be the man scouting him, clearly indicting there is a serious level of interest here.
