‘Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas’, ‘Great to see’ – Tottenham fans celebrate as club confirm positive injury news

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern haven’t had much to smile about this week. The Lilywhites had a poor showing over the weekend, and their season, in general, hasn’t been up to par.

They’re currently sat back in 7th place in the Premier League, and it’s fair to say they’ve got some catching up to do if they wan’t to finish anywhere near Man City come the end of the season.

Results certainly need to pick up, and fast, beginning with their game against Burnley this weekend. Fortunately, ahead of the game, Tottenham have provided some good news over on Twitter.

Though not pertaining to their upcoming fixture, the Lilywhites have confirmed that Toby Alderweireld has begun outdoor training as he bids for a first-team return. There is seemingly no chance of him featuring against the Clarets, but at the very least, this is a sign of real progress from the Belgian, and that’s massive for Tottenham.

Alderweireld has, of course, been missing for a number of weeks now, and Tottenham have really missed him. His calming, consistent quality at the back has been crucial for Spurs over the last few years, and they’ve lacked defensive solidity without him.

A return, then, is a Christmas wish for many of our resident Lilywhites, and they’ve responded in their droves to Tottenham’s message over on Twitter. Many are clamouring for his return, whilst others are merely celebrating the latest development. Take a look at a small selection of responses below…
