It’s done: This Man United man should never play for the club again

The Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Jose Mourinho can get rid the squad of some deadwood in the summer and bring in some more much needed new faces ahead of what is going to be a tough season ahead, with every team looking to level up to close the gap to Man City.

Manchester United are finishing the highest in the Premier League since they last won it back in 2013 under current boss Mourinho. The Red Devils have had a fair few poor seasons in recent times, which has not gone down well with our local Reds in the bar, especially given the success they have been used to.

Mourinho masterminded a Europa League and League Cup win last season, and this season he could bring in a third piece of silverware with the FA Cup. All this is an amazing achievement by the Portuguese, given how much the squad needs an overhaul of players that are simply not up to the quality Mourinho needs.

With summer approaching, Mourinho has his fifth transfer window ahead to make this United squad into Premier League Champions before he leaves. Some players have let him down this season and he should surely look to shift out some deadwood. This could all start with this player exiting the club…

OUR VERDICT – Matteo Darmain

The Italian full-back since his arrival at Old Trafford hasn’t done much to impress our regulars in the tap room. Indeed, the former Torino man has dropped further down the pecking order in recent times and his game time has reduced immensely.

A move out of United would be the best thing for Matteo Darmian at this point in his career, and Mourinho would surely be willing to let him go, given his role in recent seasons. The need for full-backs has greatly reduced much to the form of Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young this season while Darmian majority of the time doesn’t even get to warm the bench.
