Manchester United

It’s time for Mourinho and Man United to sell this versatile midfielder

Manchester United have been superb so far this season and will be hoping to take another three points today when they come up against an impressive Huddersfield Town side.

The Red Devils appear to have got all the right pieces in place to mount a big challenge for success this year across all fronts, and with Jose Mourinho in charge, there’s every chance they can deliver a haul of trophies come the end of the season.

Our landlord here at the Tavern has been impressed by the club this term in all aspects, but with January fast approaching and talk of transfers no doubt once again bound to come to the fore, we think United can afford to move a couple of players on.

One such player is current England man and versatile midfielder Jesse Lingard, who is finding it a struggle to get into the side this year.

Lingard is not a particularly bad footballer, it’s just in Mourinho’s new look United, he doesn’t seem to have a place. His abilities are not quite up to the standard of his fellow attacking midfield players at the club, and unlike Ashley Young, he doesn’t appear to have the ability to play in defence.

It’s these sort of reasons which give Lingard every chance of being put on the chopping block. While the player himself would not be too disappointed, it is clear that he would not be a huge loss for manager Mourinho.

Lingard is still relatively young, and English. These factors play into United’s hands, giving the club the chance to recoup a decent fee for the academy product.

United fans, what do you think to Lingard? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
