The Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern at the moment are glad Rafa Benitez is finally getting some deals done in this transfer window.
Reports have surfaced linking 20-year-old winger, Sheyi Ojo with a move from Liverpool to Newcastle.
The Englishman is a very highly rated youngster within Liverpool’s ranks but he lacks first team experience in the top flight.
Previous loan spells to Wolves and Wigan gave him some much needed first team football, making 17 appearances in the Championship during the 2015/6 season.
In that season, he managed two goals and three assists in the 17 games he featured in but it wasn’t enough for him to get a consistent run in Liverpool’s side last time out.
A classic winger, Ojo is pacey and a great dribbler of the ball – he is also a competent set-piece taker which could make him a great addition to Newcastle’s side.
The only obstacle is the reported £10 million asking price from Liverpool.
Benitez seems unwilling to pay the fee but Liverpool have warned him that if they can’t find the money, Ojo will be loaned out elsewhere.
He is certainly one for the future but Newcastle aren’t in a position, financially right now to spend £10 million on someone who could be of use in two or three years, especially after just spending a hefty amount on another winger, in the form of England under-21 star Jacob Murphy.
Benitez should leave Ojo to be loaned out and find someone else who can help impact the team from the get go to help keep them up.
