It’s time for this Chelsea fringe player to get his chance against Qarabag – agreed?

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly anticipating their side’s return to European action. The Blues have had a decent campaign so far, and a win against their competition this week will see them confirm their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Though the Blues can’t take the game lightly, their opposition – Qarabag – are a side that they should be able to comfortably beat. The first game between the two sides at Stamford Bridge finished 6-0 in favour of the hosts, and most of the fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a similar result this time around.

As a result, the game could provide a decent chance for a few fringe players to get their chance, and one player that our landlord would like to see play is Danny Drinkwater. Having suffered an injury earlier this year that ruled him out for the first portion of the season, Drinkwater has now returned to fitness – and he has looked very good when given an opportunity. He brings a balance to the midfield that is often lacking when N’Golo Kante is not involved, whilst his passing and technical ability surpass his former Leicester City teammate.

Wednesday’s game could provide the perfect opportunity for Drinkwater to not only get some valuable minutes under his belt, but also allow him to help contribute to Chelsea’s prospective progression into the next round of the competition.

Surely he needs to start. Do you agree? Vote below and let us know!
