Tottenham are a team on the up, that much is clear. They’re yet to make a major signing this summer, but with a core group of internationals like Dele Alli and Harry Kane, the only way is up.
However, the longer they go without success, the more concerning their long-term future begins to look. The reality is that top players want to win trophies, and at present, the Lilywhites’ trophy cabinet is empty.
When a big team comes in for a player, then, it’s always a worry. Reports from the Sun linking Hugo Lloris with a potential £60 million move to Real Madrid, then, are concerning. He’s one of Europe’s best goalkeepers, and he’s vital to Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
However, his mixed form last season cannot be understated, and at 31-years-old, he’s hardly in his prime. Perhaps, then, a sale wouldn’t be such a bad idea. Indeed, maybe it actually makes sense.
After all, Pochettino has been brilliant at bringing in young players and turning them into world-beaters. Could he do the same again?
Perhaps it’s time for Tottenham to move on from Hugo Lloris and sign 1 of these 2 talented youngsters…
