Newcastle United

It’s time Newcastle moved this striker on and sought out a January replacement

Newcastle United have made a decent fist of things over the opening months of the Premier League season and have enough in the locker it would appear to stave off any sort of relegation worries lingering over the club.

Manager Rafa Benitez appears to have a system in place which is working for his team, and despite a lacklustre summer transfer window, the Spaniard cannot be too disheartened with the options he has available to him in his squad.

Our landlord here at the Tavern loves a good beer with the Toon Army, and this week they have been coming to the bar in their droves as they prepare for the return to Premier League action this weekend. Discussions however quickly turned to January and what the club should be looking to do, and our gaffer thinks it’s time the the club moved striker Aleksandar Mitrovic on to pastures new.

The big striker has divided fans during his time with the club and has also had a few injuries which haven’t helped his cause at all. However, there can only be so much patience you can have with a player, especially one who’s disciplinary record is far from perfect when he does play.

Mitrovic cost the Toon a fair few quid a couple of seasons back, but has simply not hit the heights many thought he would, meaning his time could well be coming to an end at St James’ pretty soon. He’s still young enough to carve a good career out, it just appears his best days will not be with Newcastle.

Toon Army, what do you think to Mitro? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
