Newcastle United fans here in the Tavern are already looking forward to the start of next season, as they saw their side beat Chelsea on the final day of the Premier League season.
Rafa Benitez will be looking to build a strong side over the course of the summer transfer window, as he may be able to take them to Europe next season if he receives the correct backing. Although, before he starts looking at potential summer signings, the club may want to reward a couple of players for their efforts this season as a new contract may be on the cards.
Freddie Woodman, who is currently valued at £450k (by Transfermarkt), has been outstanding this season at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen. But, there’s no doubt that he could play a part in Newcastle’s next campaign, having helped the Scottish club secure a European place and second position in the Scottish Premiership.
Without further ado, it’s time Newcastle United rewarded Freddie Woodman with a new deal…
The 21-year-old was sent out on loan to Aberdeen during the January transfer window, which has proved to be a useful move for the youngster as he has been able to enjoy some first-team football.
And, with Martin Dubravka keeping Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot at bay in the fight for the Newcastle goalkeeper’s jersey, perhaps Freddie Woodman will become the Magpies’ second-choice goalkeeper next season after witnessing both Darlow and Elliot’s inconsistencies.
So, with a bright future ahead of the young goalkeeper, Newcastle shouldn’t waste any time in offering him a new deal at the club.
