The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news via Sky Sports News that Claudio Ranieri will be leaving Ligue 1 club Nantes at the end of the French domestic season. The former Chelsea and Leicester boss has been touted online as the next manager at the London Stadium after the Stratford club parted ways with David Moyes yesterday.

Claudio Ranieri is the man behind the biggest upset in English top-flight history. Leicester City won the Premier League title in the 2015/16 season, just a year after completing one of the top-flight’s greatest escapes. Leicester’s title win was followed by an equally successful Champions league campaign. The club got to the quarter-final of the competition, although Ranieri was unceremoniously sacked from his post before the round-of-sixteen second-leg.
This season has seen the Italian manager plying his trade in France for the first time in his career. The experienced manager took Nantes to as high as 3rd in Ligue 1, although the club now look destined to finish 10th after a poor second half to the season. West Ham will be looking for an experienced gaffer who’s managed in the Premier League and understands what’s required in the league, meaning Ranieri would be a perfect option.
