Iwobi’s performance at Chelsea has impressed Arsenal fans

Alex Iwobi was one of the shining lights in Arsenal’s 3-2 loss at Stamford Bridge yesterday. The Nigerian international scored Arsenal’s equaliser to help Unai Emery’s side claw it back to 2-2 despite finding themselves 2-0 down after just 20 minutes.

Iwobi’s 41st-minute strike levelled the game up at Stamford Bridge and deservedly so as Arsenal looked the better side for towards the end of the first half. Truth be told it could have been a very different game for The Gunners as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan missed absolute sitters either side of Alvaro Morata’s goal for Chelsea and if they’d have been more clinical then Arsenal could have been celebrating a 4-3 win.

Putting the result aside, there were plenty of positives for Emery to take from the game, the fans saw their side notch twice at Stamford Bridge, the first time they’ve done that since they won 5-3 back in October 2011. Wins will come for Arsenal and if Alex Iwobi can keep putting in shifts like he did yesterday and getting in promising goalscoring positions then there’s no reason that the Gunners can’t bounce back from their two tough opening fixtures and achieve big things this season.
