Jack Wilshere could miss the majority of the season

Jack Wilshere was one of a number of players brought to West Ham United in the summer.

The midfielder has struggled to make a real impact at the London Stadium, largely done to having spent a significant period of time on the sidelines.

And, according to a report by The Sun, he could be about to miss the rest of the season with even more ankle trouble.

The 26-year-old managed just five minutes in his comeback against Newcastle United before being immediately sidelined once again.

It is feared that he may need to have further surgery which could rule him out for the majority of the campaign.

The Verdict:

West Ham have had a number of injury concerns already this season and the news emerging about Wilshere will be a huge blow to Manuel Pellegrini.

The Hammers have already seen the likes of Carlos Sanchez, Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko been hit with long-term injuries and now appear to face even more time with the former Arsenal man.

West Ham are currently on a four-match win streak and will look to continue their excellent form when they host Watford at the London Stadium on Saturday.
