David James, the current Portsmouth goalkeeper, will still be unsure as to where his future lies as we appraoch the final hours of the transfer window. Stoke City are the club that will still believe they can get their man.
Stoke have been chasing James for the last couple of weeks but there was further complication to the move. The club had a £3m deal for James’ team-mate Asmir Begovic fail to materialise. The Bosnian goalkeeper wanted to go to the Britannia.
Cash-strapped Portsmouth would rather sell Begovic to Tottenham, and if that deal were to happen then Stoke would pretty much have James on board after chasing him for a sufficient period of time.
Tony Pulis, the Stoke manager, would do well to get James now after trying so hard. He would get a keeper determined to finish the season injury-free and playing at the top of his game.
