Liverpool fans have been lucky enough to witness many incredible players grace the pitch at Anfield, and there are dozens of names now written into the very foundations of the club. Now, another man has truly earnt his status as one of the most popular men at Anfield, and he's a manager - rather than a player.
We are, of course, referring to Jurgen Klopp, who very quickly has emerged as one of the most popular men on Merseyside. Of course, the brilliant form of Liverpool on the field is helping that process, but former Red Jamie Carragher also thinks that something else is at play.
As per Sky Sports, Carragher has written: 'He's [Klopp] suited firstly because he's a top manager. There's no doubt about that. Then there's his personality, his passion on the sidelines resonates with Liverpool supporters.'
He continued: 'He resonates with fans on a different level. When he speaks, Liverpool supporters listen. He speaks their type of language, how they like football to be played. It comes back to that energy and passion in his team, and with him on the sidelines. That mirrors Liverpool people and Liverpool supporters at Anfield.'
Few would argue that Liverpool's fanbase is amongst the most passionate in England, with the Reds always eager to burst into song and help urge their team over the line both at home and away.
Klopp is, in many ways, exactly the same. He's as animated as the fans, he's as passionate as the fans, and he's as dedicated as the fans. The only real difference is that he can have an actual impact on the players that are selected and how they play.
In the modern day game, a lot of attention has been placed on the idea of mercenaries and people simply not caring about their club in the long-term or otherwise. With Klopp, you don't get that feeling.
As Carragher says, he's formed a connection with the Liverpool fans, and that's what has made him so popular. It's the same sort of enthusiasm that Arsene Wenger had during his early days at Arsenal, and it's the opposite of what someone like Maurizio Sarri has at Chelsea.
For Liverpool fans, then, most would agree that Jurgen Klopp is the best man for the job, and Carragher clearly agrees.
