Liverpool will be looking to kick on over the winter period of the Premier League season with Champions League football out of the way and solely being able to concentrate on things domestically.
The Reds have been inconsistent this season, but remain a dangerous team on their day and manager Jurgen Klopp does have them playing some exciting attacking football through the likes of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, and Philippe Coutinho.
Here at the Tavern, our landlord has been having a few beers with the Liverpool fans this week as they prepared for their Champions League tie, and a lot of the discussion turned to the January window and just who could be coming in and out of Anfield.
One player our landlord thinks could be moved on is forward Daniel Sturridge, who quite simply has been poor for the last 18 months now.
Injuries have played a big part in the England man’s demise, but for Liverpool and what they want to achieve, they need someone with a bit more consistency and stability, and unfortunately for Sturridge, this could see him moved out under Klopp.
While Sturridge remains a talented player, he’s simply not up to the standard or consistency that Liverpool require if they are going to challenge for honours on all fronts, and moving him on in January, while he could still command considerable fee, might well be the best option for Liverpool in January.
