Manchester United completed their march into the Champions League knockout stages this week, drifting past a spirited CSKA Moscow side to seal their place among Europe’s elite.
This season has seen the Red Devils look back to being a serious contender in the race for the Premier League title too, and with a massive game this weekend against Manchester City, United fans will be hoping manager Jose Mourinho has a big plan up his sleeve for dealing with Pep Guardiola’s men.
The January transfer window is on the horizon too, and our landlord here at the Tavern is expecting a fair bit of movement both in and out of United. He’s been chatting with United fans this week over by the jukebox, and one player he thinks the club need to look to move on is Argentinian defender Marcos Rojo.
The experienced left sided defender has been a big disappointment since moving to Old Trafford, struggling with injury and also for form when selected.
With Mourinho now seeing Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and new signing Victor Lindelof all cementing places in the back four alongside the impressive Eric Bailly, Rojo’s time in Manchester could well be up.
It’s not that he’s a bad player, it’s simply a move which hasn’t worked out due to a whole host of varying factors, and Rojo himself might well be keen to move on if a move back into mainland Europe presents itself.
Man U fans, what do you think to Rojo? Time to move on? Let us know in the comments!
