The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for a dramatic upturn in form throughout the hectic December fixture list…
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are yet to hit the ground running so far this season and their poor run of form is beginning to worry the resident Lilywhites in the tavern. The silver lining of Tottenham’s season so far has been their excellent form in the Champions League which has enabled them to clinch top spot in Group H with a game to spare. The form of Christian Eriksen has certainly had a detrimental impact on Tottenham’s performances of late, and their reliance on his creative spark to break down the opposition has become increasingly apparent.
However, Pochettino could be set to relieve some of the pressure on Eriksen to be their creative outlet, as The Mirror report he is lining up a transfer for Real Madrid outcast Dani Ceballos in January.
Formerly of Real Betis, Ceballos was tipped to go far in European football when he earned a dream switch to Los Blancos last summer.
But Ceballos who is a central midfielder by trade, has struggled to break into Zinedine Zidane’s first-team plans since his arrival.
The young Spaniard has only started two games in La Liga all season which will concern the Spaniard with the 2018 World Cup in the back of his mind.
And his arrival could spell the end of Moussa Sissoko’s career at Tottenham, considering the breadth of midfield options that are already available to Pochettino.
Sissoko has enjoyed plenty of first-team football this season in a variety of positions, but his performances have certainly not been up to the standard you would expect of a top-four midfielder.
If Tottenham managed to tempt Ceballos with a move to the white half of North-London in January then Sissoko’s career with the club will be all but finished.
