Southampton have been a huge disappointment in the current campaign having failed to ensure any consistency at all under Mark Hughes.
The Saints could find themselves in a relegation dogfight if they aren’t careful as they’ve only won one game all season, which is less than acceptable.
Indeed, things haven’t all been positive for the club in the past year or so, with problems off the field halting their progress at times and really causing them trouble. Indeed, Gao Jisheng hasn’t always made the best of decisions, with transfer and managerial problems resulting in a number of issues.
With that in mind, it’s obvious that Gao Jisheng has made these TWO mistakes…
SIGNING GUIDO CARRILLO
Southampton secured their club-record signing Guido Carrillo for £19 million back in January of this year, which has since proven to be arguably one of the club’s biggest mistake in their history.
The South American failed to find the back of the net for the Saints during the second half of last season, which resulted in the club shipping him out on loan to Spanish side Leganes for the current campaign.
MARK HUGHES IN CHARGE FOR THIS SEASON
Mark Hughes was appointed as Mauricio Pellegrino’s successor back in March of this year in the hope that he could help them avoid the drop. And, that’s exactly what he managed to do, but not many supporters were keen on him remaining at St Mary’s for the current campaign.
Indeed, the Englishman hasn’t really been able to get the best out of his players this season as the Saints are currently struggling for goals at the pinnacle of the attack and look vulnerable defensively.
So, Southampton could face the possibility of relegation if things don’t start to change for the better.
