Crystal Palace got off to the best possible start yesterday as they secured a 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage against newly-promoted Fulham.
The Eagles looked impressive on the opening day of the Premier League season and will be desperate to kick on from here as they chase down a possible European spot. Although, it looks as if Roy Hodgson will have to deal with interest in one of his players, as according to The Sun on Sunday (12/08; page 59) (via HITC), West Bromwich Albion are eyeing a move for Joel Ward.
West Brom are eyeing up a move for Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward, but may have to agree to buy the 28-year-old next summer to get a deal done.
Interestingly, the defender only just signed a new contract at Selhurst Park earlier this summer, but the Eagles are believed to be willing to send the Englishman out on loan.
However, the Premier League side could be looking for a significant loan fee or would want an agreement that the Baggies will buy him permanently next summer.
So, it looks as if West Bromwich Albion are looking to take Crystal Palace’s Joel Ward on loan before the end of the month, with a permanent move next summer possibly being included in the deal.
Indeed, this comes as a huge surprise as the defender signed a new deal earlier on in the summer.
However, the Eagles already have a number of impressive full-backs at the club, so the defender would have ended up on the bench for the majority of games anyway.
