The punters are gossiping here at the Football Transfer Tavern after it has been revealed in the London Evening Standard that Martin Jol wants to keep his on loan Arsenal player Emmanuel Frimpong for a little bit longer.
The manager has been impressed with Frimpong’s performances this season and sees the extension of his loan deal as something that would help his side massively. Despite Frimpong only making one start so far in his loan spell, the coaching staff and Dutch manager have been impressed with the player, leading Jol to note: “I was impressed with him from the start. He is the type of player you would like as a manger because he is versatile and he can play as well because he is an Arsenal player.”
Jol further added that: “He did well for us at Carrow Road and he is getting better and better. I can play him from the start if I want to.” Of course the serious knee injury suffered by the player has taken a great deal to come back from and both Arsene Wenger and Frimpong himself know that first team action is the best way to do this.
When it comes to the long-term future of the Arsenal player, it seems a move to Fulham is not on the cards, with Arsene Wenger still keeping the 21-year-old in his long term plans and wants Frimmy to get as much first team experience in the Premier League as possible.
