It has been a tough year or two for Luke Shaw, though the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern have remained hopeful. After joining from Southampton, the Englishman has struggled with form and fitness, and his career under Jose Mourinho has looked over on more than one occasion since the arrival of the Portuguese manager.
However, over the last few weeks, the Englishman has enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance of sorts. Taking advantage of every minute on the pitch that he has received, the Englishman has been a bit of a surprise package this term, and the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that it will continue for the foreseeable future.
Jose on @LukeShaw23: "He has been, for a few months, free of minor injuries that can stop [a player's] evolution and I'm really happy [with him]. I think he will be a Manchester United player for years." #MUFC pic.twitter.com/fXZAN7RzkJ

It’s certainly quite the turnaround. It wouldn’t have been a surprise to see him leave the club over the summer, but Mourinho chose to stick with him, and Shaw chose to continue working hard – and both parties have got their rewards. Now, Mourinho is happy with Shaw, and Shaw is, clearly, happy with Mourinho – judging by his recent performances.
A Man Utd fan favourite, it’s no surprise that the comments on Shaw have generated a lot of reaction online, with lots of Red Devils taking to Twitter to discuss Mourinho’s statement.
It’s fair to say that it has gone down very well with fans – with most absolutely loving what the Portuguese has had to say.
Take a look at below…
Start him on Sunday.

Great to see Shaw back in favor. I think he's our best option at LB. Young should be a bench option used to spell Valencia once in a while. Shaw needs a protracted run. We haven't even seen the best of him yet.
