The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to their Portuguese tactician’s latest update on the injury, or lack of injury, that Eric Bailly is nursing. Mourinho claimed that the Ivorian defender is not suffering from an injury and that the defender is fine, leading the fans to question why Chris Smalling has been consistently starting at the heart of his defence.

Eric Bailly signed for United ahead of the 2016/17 season and has been one of Mourinho’s stand-out defender’s during the ex-Real Madrid man’s time at the club. Mourinho had concerns over Bailly last season, that the dominant defender was being stretched too thin by being the club’s best defender and now it’s been proven by the 24-year-old’s injury record this season. Bailly has played just 11 times in the Premier League for United this season and the club has lost just once in those games.
Bailly’s defensive partners, Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have all shown their weaknesses this season with all of them going through rough-patches and receiving criticism this season. Meanwhile, Mourinho’s star defender has a stellar record, barring an unfortunate own-goal against Liverpool and the club have conceded just six Premier League goals whilst he’s been on the pitch this season, showcasing his importance to Mourinho’s side.

People in the comments goin on about how he should be starting week in week out.
Knowing Bailly and his injury woes, its best to save him for the finals and give other players goin to the WC a chance to prove themselves
