Chelsea travelled to St James Park today and the Magpies were very unlucky not to take something out of the encounter. A suspect penalty was won by Marcos Alonso which Eden Hazard dispatched to give The Blues the lead before an incredible header from Joselu levelled the scores up at 1-1.

A freak own goal from DeAndre Yedlin gave Chelsea all three points as they made it three wins from three in the Premier League this season under Mauricio Sarri but Newcastle can’t be faulted for their efforts as they made a game of it and can be counted very unlucky to not have come away from the fixture with three points, let alone one. The Magpies will have to wait for their first win of the season, though, and with Man City away next, it’s hard to see it coming soon.
Joselu, though, will relish the chance to play against Manchester City next Saturday. The Spanish striker has scored both of the club’s goals this season, netting a header in the 2-1 loss against Tottenham as well as his sublime headed effort today. If he can bag one next weekend he’ll have already put goals past half of the big six and we’re yet to play five games, which would be a very impressive achievement.

The Magpies can feel frustrated by the loss but will definitely be delighted with Joselu’s continued impact this season.
