West Ham United could be about to see another talented player leave the club on loan this summer, as he looks to impress Manuel Pellegrini.
The 22-year-old featured for the first-team under David Moyes and impressed those watching on when he turned out for the developmental side on Monday, however, with the arrival of Jack Wilshere and Declan Rice’s move to midfield, he knows his opportunities are limited.
“Yeah there have been conversations going on,” he told the London Evening Standard.
“It’s not that I’ve decided totally whether I am staying or going; at the minute I’m here, just taking each day as it comes and trying to impress the manager.
“First and foremost I want to be playing for West Ham, but if the manager says to me ‘there’s the right loan there’ then I’ll go and get some games up until January, come back and look at it then.”
Cullen has been regarded as one of West Ham’s better prospects to come through the academy ranks recently, however, another loan spell could be the best thing for him.
The Hammers currently have a number of options in midfield and the 22-year-old would find it difficult to break into.
Having already spent time at Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers on loan and playing regular football, a temporary switch to another lower league side will be more beneficial for him rather than playing in the Under-23 side.
