Liverpool began the winter transfer window in dramatic fashion, smashing the world-record fee for a defender with a £75 million swoop for Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk, before selling talismanic playmaker Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in a deal just shy of the £150 million mark.
Liverpool fans here in The Transfer Tavern have hardly had a minute to breathe and collect their thoughts on the situation, but before they could even finish their first pint of the afternoon, news emerged from Bleacher Report journalist Dean Jones on Twitter that one of Daniel Sturridge or Danny Ings could be on their way out of Anfield this month. The pair have struggled with injuries over the past eighteen-months, and Jones has suggested that both need to depart Anfield, but manager Jurgen Klopp will only allow one to leave.
Daniel Sturridge needs to get away from Liverpool and Danny Ings needs game time – but am told only one will be allowed to leave.

The England internationals are desperate for first-team minutes with a World Cup on the horizon, and it appears unlikely an opportunity will transpire given the form of Roberto Firmino and Klopp’s insistence on handing minutes to youngster Dominic Solanke. It appears one of the pair will be on the move this month.
Landlord’s Verdict: Both Sturridge and Ings need to get out of Liverpool to ensure their careers do not stagnate on the sidelines at Anfield, but it appears Klopp will not part with both players until the summer, when he can source suitable replacements. Ings has no chance of making the England squad this summer, but Sturridge will know that his place is certainly up for grabs.
The player needs to ensure he is the man that is allowed to depart this month in order to rediscover his form with another Premier League side, with a switch to somewhere like Southampton or West Ham an excellent platform from which the player can relaunch his career.
Liverpool fans, let us know who should go this month!
