Southampton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be delighted with the work that Mark Hughes has managed to do this summer and will be hoping it is a sign of positive things to come.
The Saints had a rather disappointing campaign last season, having only narrowly missed relegation from the Premier League.
Hughes will be determined to ensure his side are not in the same predicament next year and has already been active in the transfer window to try and give his team the best chances available.
The former Stoke City boss has already been improving areas of his team with the additions of Stuart Armstrong and Mohamed Elyounoussi, whilst it has been claimed that a fee has been agreed for defender Jannik Vestergaard.
However, it appears Hughes has not finished with his recruitment drive, as Simon Stone has revealed on his personal Twitter handle that the Saints are looking at one other possible signing.
Angus Gunn close to joining @SouthamptonFC from Man City. Would be permanent deal. Other clubs interested but Saints head the queue. Very highly-rated keeper.

The BBC journalist has stated that Angus Gunn is close to completing a deal from Manchester City, in what would also be a permanent switch for the highly-rated goalkeeper.
The shot-stopper, who has represented England at the Under-21 level, is widely regarded as one of the brightest goalkeepers in the game and the Southampton fans will be delighted to see him at the St. Mary’s Stadium next season.
The 22-year-old, who has attracted plenty of interest, has had his opportunities limited at City, despite Pep Guardiola being an admirer of his talent and a move to the south-coast will be exactly what Gunn needs to take his career to the next level.
