Liverpool had a strong transfer window when they managed to add a number of players, however, the departure of one man on a free transfer may have been a slight damper on the summer’s business.
The Reds managed to add the likes of Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri to their side.
They did, however, lose Emre Can to Juventus on a free transfer and Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he has no problem with the player’s decision.
“We always had and still have a good relationship,” Klopp told the Liverpool Echo.
“I have no problem with a player leaving. The only problem I had for the club was that I wanted to get some money: ‘Sign a new contract and then we’ll sell you!’ But that wasn’t really realistic.
“There was never a problem between Emre and I.
“Emre is 24 now. Playing in another country can be a life target: ‘I’ve spent four years in England, now I want to go somewhere else.’
“Why not? He’s a top player and he’s gone to a top club, it’s all good.”
Liverpool will have initially been disappointed to have lost Can on a free transfer as he was an excellent player for the club.
Can struggled to get much game time last season, largely in part to injuries, but he had proved to be a key figure when he was on the pitch for the Anfield outfit.
However, with the addition of Fabinho this summer, his loss will have been limited and the Reds will be confident that they have suitably replaced him.
