The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern seem worried that their club could sell one of their favourite players.
Reports that have surfaced in recent days suggest that Barcelona are going to make a second bid for Liverpool’s Brazilian superstar, Philippe Coutinho.
Our landlord doesn’t think this would be a bad move for Liverpool, he reckons it would be catastrophic for them.
Liverpool can’t afford to be a selling club right now and if Coutinho departs then that could pave the way for other Liverpool superstars to look for a move away.
The Reds are getting closer and closer to that elusive Premier League title that has eluded them for so many years and selling Coutinho would be a huge step back for them.
It doesn’t matter whether Barcelona offers £100 million or more, Coutinho is a priceless asset to Jurgen Klopp’s side.
His free kicks alone should make him irreplaceable to Liverpool. Along with his dribbling ability, his passing, shooting and decision making, he simply can’t leave the club.
Jurgen Klopp is at the stage in his managerial tenure at Liverpool where he needs to be buying players to add to the strength of his squad, not depleting it.
Given the fact that the Brazilian playmaker is the best player had the club, he is definitely a fan favourite so it is unlikely they would be happy if he was to depart the club.
