Liverpool fans here in the Tavern will be hoping that their side can welcome a couple more big-name players to the club this summer, with aims of going one better in the Champions League.
The Reds won’t want to taste disappointment in Europe again next season after suffering defeat in the Champions League final, so the summer transfer window will be of huge importance. And, it appears as if Liverpool could look to add another quality player to their ranks at some point in the future, as according to DAZN documentary ‘Being Mario Gotze’ (via the Mirror), Mario Gotze has left the door open for a move to Liverpool and a reunion with Jurgen Klopp.
The German starred under Jurgen Klopp for Borussia Dortmund before earning a move to Bayern Munich back in 2014.
Sadly, Mario Gotze rejected the chance to join Liverpool when he rejoined Borussia Dortmund two years later, but has refused to rule out working under his former boss in the future.
“I decided to leave Bayern and Jurgen Klopp was interested in getting me to Liverpool. And I was also interested in working with him again,”
“It’s still existing. He is a world-class coach and that’s why it’s always an option. I decided to join Borussia Dortmund, but it was not a decision against Liverpool or Jurgen Klopp. But on the contrary.”
So, it looks as if Jurgen Klopp is the key to a possible move for Mario Gotze in the future, as the Borussia Dortmund man admires the Liverpool boss and is interested in working with him again. The 26-year-old is a once in a century talent as he has displayed moments of brilliance that many of the world’s best would struggle to replicate, and managed to score the winning goal for Germany in the 2014 World Cup.
