Liverpool will be preparing for their Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday and they will come up against a player they have tried to sign multiple times.
It is claimed that Jurgen Klopp has been a keen admirer of the sensation for a number of years and first tried to sign him back in the winter of 2015-16 and spent several hours trying to convince him to join him at Anfield.
However, the French media outlet have also stated that although Liverpool were unlikely to splash out the £162million PSG did for the World Cup winner, they were prepared to make him the highest paid player at the club alongside Philippe Coutinho, who has since completed a big-money move to Barcelona.
Liverpool already have a deadly attacking trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, but imagine what it could have been with Mbappe leading the line.
However, that is all in the past and Klopp will be hoping the equally effective PSG trio are not on fire on Tuesday night.
With the likes of Mbappe, Neymar and Edinson Cavani leading the line, Liverpool will be looking to keep them all at bay and will want to make sure they get a positive result out of their match at Anfield.
