Liverpool fans in the Tavern will be full of excitement as the Reds gear up to take on Roma in tonight’s Champions League semi-final against Roma. An excellent first-leg result will be crucial before a tough trip to Rome.
Despite a two-goal advantage against West Brom, Liverpool could only manage a point at the Hawthorns, but Jurgen Klopp’s side remain in pole position to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.
The signing of Naby Keita has already been confirmed and the Reds are expected to continue spending to revamp their squad ahead of another title challenge with the windfall from Philippe Coutinho’s sale to Barcelona yet to be touched.
Many names have been linked with a move to Anfield including Norwich City playmaker – James Maddison.
Valued at £9m according to Transfermarkt, the 21-year-old has been a key performer for the Canaries racking up 14 goals as well as registering eight assists.
Norwich were unable to challenge for the playoffs this season meaning they should struggle to keep hold of their hot prospect if Premier League clubs come calling in the summer. The Mirror has reported that Arsenal and Manchester City hold an interest in the youngster, but the Anfield Express says Liverpool lead the race for his signature.
Maddison holds a close relationship with Liverpool starlet, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and they share a room while on England U21 duty. So, next season could see Klopp welcome yet another talented attacker to his squad. Though Maddison may instantly seem like a rather understated replacement for Philippe Coutinho, Klopp’s work on the training field really could improve the Young Lion and bring him to the fore.
Alexander-Arnold has developed into a first-team regular under Klopp, a similar path that Maddison could follow if he moves to Anfield. He certainly has the talent.
Will James Maddison follow in the footsteps of Dele Alli and become a Premier League star? Let us know!
