Liverpool are on the right path at present. They're impressing in the league, they're impressing in Europe, and their growth over the last few years has been simply brilliant to watch.

However, they aren't even close to finished yet. This week, they confirmed that star defender Andy Robertson had agreed fresh terms at the club, and that bodes well for the long-term future of those at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp's words on the matter, too, should only generate more excitement for Liverpool supporters.

Discussing his team, as per the official Liverpool website, Klopp said: "It’s always a good sign for a club when you have the opportunity to extend contracts early, stuff like that. This team, if we can keep these boys together, there’s a very good age group, we are really in the middle of the development so that’s just good news for Liverpool".

He continued: "These 17, 18 or 19 players plus the really young boys, that’s the squad of the future. It should be like this, that’s investment and the club gave us the opportunity to do it so [it’s] really nice".

Jurgen Klopp is being quite clear in saying that these decisions are being made to help ensure long-term success at Anfield, and so it's evident that the club aren't just focusing on the present. Teams like Chelsea over the years have had great success, but it's always been in fits and bursts, with short-term success always the aim. Klopp, though, is aiming to build a dynasty, and he's doing that by keeping the squad together.

It's also very interesting that he's mentioned the very young players at Anfield. We've seen over the last two years or so that Trent Alexander-Arnold has turned into one of Europe's best right-backs under Jurgen Klopp's tutelage, and it's clear that the boss has his eyes on a few more youngsters that can have a similar impact. There are players like young Rhian Brewster who is evidently good enough to make an impact at Anfield long-term, and players like him aren't going unnoticed.

It's an exciting time to be a Liverpool fan, and these words from Klopp prove it.
