West Ham supporters in the Transfer Tavern have endured a frustrating week after seeing their side lose at home to Tottenham last weekend.
The East London outfit hit a run of form prior to Spurs’ visit on Saturday by winning two and drawing the other of their preceding three matches, but that run was halted by Mauricio Pochettino’s men thanks to a brace from Harry Kane, and a second of the season for midfielder Christian Eriksen.
That 3-2 loss for the Hammers saw Slaven Bilic’s side slip back into the Premier League’s bottom three and thus increase the pressure even further on the Croat, who now faces a huge encounter against Swansea City at the London Stadium on Saturday.
Despite the doom and gloom among our resident West Ham fans in the Tavern this week, there has been some good news for one Hammer in particular, namely that of left-back Aaron Cresswell.
And that’s because the 27-year-old has again been called up into Gareth Southgate’s England squad for their 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Lithuania next month, where he will look to add to his two caps for his country.

The former Ipswich Town defender has appeared in all six of West Ham’s Premier League games so far this term and must be doing something right to impress Southgate, even if the Hammers have only managed one win in that time, conceding 13 goals in the process.
And Cresswell’s call-up unsurprisingly stimulated quite a response from Hammers supporters on Twitter, with many somewhat surprised to see the 27-year-old included…
Nah on a serious note how’s Cresswell still getting picked https://t.co/ydVxx1Peny

Shows how bad England are when Cresswell continues to get called-up. https://t.co/0JjAfNmUac

Quite funny that when Cresswell was playing great for us he couldn’t get a call up, now he’s not at his best but gets call ups https://t.co/4HcSEBWkNl

Cresswell was one of the best left backs in the country few years back and didn’t get close to a England call up now he’s always in it

2015/16 Cresswell would’ve walked into the England squad, no idea how he’s getting call ups now

2-3 years ago when Cresswell was amazing he got no call ups for England, now that he’s average he gets called up all the time
