I’m sure most of us have got carried away during a session on our favourite football management game and made bids for a random array of the games top talents.
In reality few managers would be afforded the financial luxuries to compile their ill thought-out fantasy squad, but if there’s one manager that could it’s Roberto Mancini; reports in The Mirror suggest that Italian has his heart set on making this a reality.
The Mirror believe that the Manchester City manager is determined to wield his owner’s financial power and purchase Lille’s £35 million rated winger Edin Hazard no matter how high the bidding rises. The Manchester City manager is reported as saying of Hazard;
“I like him a lot. He’ll do well in our team. Given his technical quality, City would be a perfect destination.”
Additionally Mancini is believed to be preparing bids for Napoli’s Edinson Cavani and Spurs’ Luka Modric of a combined £70 million.
If anybody was beginning to worry that Mancini’s game of fantasy football wasn’t attacking enough The Mirror also continue to link Mancini with a £25 million bid for Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie.
Undoubtedly all of the above mentioned players do posses the ability to feature in a title challenging City side, but you must ask the question where would they play? How would Silva, Nasri, Hazard, Modric and Yaya Toura all feature in the same team? If these signings were to materialise the cost of warming the bench at Eastlands would be in danger of reaching a new high.
If all of that wasn’t enough to leaving you questioning Mancini’s sanity he also claimed to be interested in poaching Wayne Rooney from Old Trafford, as he tried to amid Rooney’s stalling contract talk two years ago, and even conveys a desire to sign Ryan Giggs.
