‘Just what we need’, ‘Exciting young talent’ – Delighted Leeds fans react to transfer update on Twitter

The Leeds United fans were feeling disappointed in the Transfer Tavern last night after they lost further ground in the race for promotion against Hull City at the KCOM Stadium.

It’s been a rather miserable few weeks for Leeds United both on and off the field, and their result against relegation-threatened Hull did nothing to lift the mood amongst the resident Peacocks propping up the bar in the tavern. The goalless draw in Yorkshire meant that Thomas Christiansen’s side are now without a victory in 5 matches. Their last victory came away at Burton Albion on Boxing Day in 2017, and they have only managed to find the back of the net 3 times since then.

Leeds United’s results of late have illuminated their need to bolster their attacking options before the window slams shut tonight, and it seems they are set to fill that requirement with the acquisition of West Bromwich Albion striker Tyler Roberts.

According to Sky Sports, Leeds have agreed a deal with The Baggies worth £2.5 million for Roberts’ services, and the transfer is set to be completed today.

Roberts has spent the majority of the season so far on loan at League One outfit Walsall where he has scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists from 17 appearances.

Although his statistics are not ground-breaking, they highlight the potential of the 19-year-old to succeed in the Football League, and judging by the reaction on Twitter so far, plenty of the Leeds supporters believe he will be a fantastic signing for the club.

Here’s what the supporters have had to say about the imminent arrival of Tyler Roberts on Twitter…
