The Tottenham Hotspur fans were absolutely delighted in the Transfer Tavern last night after watching Wigan Athletic knock Manchester City out of the FA Cup at the 5th round stage of the competition.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are yet to secure their place in the 6th round of the competition due to their failure to beat Rochdale on Sunday, but they remain in the hat and they will strongly fancy their chances of progressing when they face The Dale for a second time in a replay at Wembley next Wednesday.
Now that City have been eliminated from the competition, only Spurs, Manchester United and Chelsea remain out of the top-six Premier League clubs, so excitement is naturally beginning to build amongst the Tottenham supporters who are desperate to see their club collect some silverware this season.
One of Tottenham’s former players, namely Kyle Walker, was culpable of an alarming lapse in concentration which lead to Wigan’s opener last night – a fact which was met with great amusement and delight by the Lilywhites faithful on Twitter.
Following Walker’s mistake, the Tottenham fans were eager to poke fun at their former employee and express their delight to watch him play a starring role in Man City’s exit from the competition.
Here’s what the Spurs fans had to say about Kyle Walker following his fatal error yesterday evening…
Kyle Walker may have just won Tottenham a trophy and he doesn’t play for us anymore #COYS #THFC

Mauricio Pochettino has just rewinded his Sky+ back to that Kyle Walker mistake and poured himself a big old glass of Malbec.

Kyle Walker really did look terrified of Will Grigg there. An uncharacteristic error.
