Things are starting to hot up in the Football Transfer Tavern with news breaking from talkSPORT that Premier League sides face fierce competition in their pursuit of Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente from Italian giants Juventus.
The Serie A champions had targeted Polish international forward Robert Lewandowski but their hunt of the Borussia Dortmund striker has hit the buffers with the Bundesliga club unwilling to sell their main striker in the near future.
The Bianconeri have now turned their attention to recruiting Llorente instead and are willing to gazump any Premier League sides by offering £5.6 million in the January transfer window. They had previously tried to bring the marksman to Italy but Athletic refused to sell him, however reports suggest that they may stand a better chance in January.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been continually linked with a move for the 27-year-old hitman but they now face a new battle with the Old Lady with Llorente set to leave the La Liga side.
Lewandowski has been endlessly linked with Manchester United in recent weeks and Llorente has stated he is leaving the club in June although Bilbao did make it clear that they are not prepared to let him leave in January.
