Liverpool and Manchester United fans have united with a single groan in the Transfer Tavern this afternoon, after reports suggested the Premier League duo could both miss out on a top-target.
Talksport states Juventus are confident of winning the race to land Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, with the Champions League finalists prioritising a central-midfielder on their January shopping-list.
The Italian champions are struggling to retain their Serie A crown this season, currently sat fifth in the division, with the losses of Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal over the summer making a monumental impact on the club’s form.
As well as Gundogan, Juventus are also eying Monaco’s Joao Moutinho but the Italian side believe they have a great chance of landing the German international.
Speculation that Gundogan could follow Jurgen Klopp to Liverpool has been rife ever since the German’s appointment at Anfield, whilst United boss Louis Van Gaal has had his eye on the player for some time.
However, both sets of fans in the smoking area have a gloomy look on their faces following the reports concerning Juventus.
