Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta told CalcioMercato that Liverpool had a bid turned down by the Italian giants for midfielder Claudio Marchisio, adding that he believes Marchisio will see-out his contract in Turin after recently signing a five-year deal.
“We get so many offers for our players, but we are used to buying not selling. Not only Liverpool, we have received several offers,”
“We have renewed with him, we focus strongly on Claudio and I believe that his first thought is [I will] finish my career here.”
The Independent state it’s not clear whether Liverpool’s bid came before or after Jurgen Klopp’s appointment at Anfield, with further details on the interest likely to emerge before the January transfer window opens.
Our Scouse punters are pleasantly surprised by the quotes from Marotta, as they believed that links to Marchisio was simply paper-talk; after seeing a wealth of stars linked with a move to Merseyside after Klopp’s appointment.
