As reported in The Mirror, Italian giants Juventus are lining up a sensational summer move for Chelsea striker Fernando Torres. The Old Lady are actively searching for a new striker to lead their attack next season and they are looking into the possibility of bringing the Spanish striker to Turin.
Juve have been scouring the market for a high profile striker that they can bring to the club and have been strongly linked in recent times with Real Madrid’s Argentine marksmen Gonzalo Higuain but it seems as if Torres is their prime target.
There has been contact between the Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratic and Margarita Garay, the former agent of Torres. Garay reportedly is still a member of the Torres camp and the two men have discussed a potential summer move.
The artist formerly known as El Nino has struggled mightily since moving to Chelsea from Liverpool in January of 2011. He only just broke a 25-hour goalless streak this past weekend against Leicester City in the FA Cup and has looked a shadow of his old self. It seems as if he has struggled with the weight of expectations at his new club and his form has even seen him dropped from the Spanish National squad.
Director General of Juventus Giuseppe Marotta is keen to sign the striker on an initial one year loan deal. This is because he wants to see how the striker is able to perform in Serie A with the view to a permanent deal.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is still keen to hold onto his record signing and get the best out of the forward, yet may be tempted to do a deal if the forward is unable to rediscover his form in the last two months of this season.
