Serie A title-challengers Juventus could be planning a bold double-swoop for Alex Song and Michael Essien this summer, report The Sun.
The Old Lady have been rejuvenated under the guidance of Antonio Conte this season. Juventus currently lie second in Serie A, with thirteen wins and thirteen draws from twenty-six games.
Song has been an ever-present during Arsenal’s topsy-turvy season, with the Cameroon international starting twenty-three of The Gunners twenty-seven Premier League games.
It’s extremely unlikely Wenger would be willing to let such a key player to leave, unless a massive offer is received. Michael Essien may be a more realistic option, as the often injured central midfielder could be one of many departing Stamford Bridge this summer.
An unnamed Juventus source had this to say:
“We need to back our plans for a strong European campaign by reinforcing the squad in some key positions — and Essien and Song are under review.”
So there you have it. Song and Essien playing for Juventus next year.
If this does occur, I’ll genuinely buy a season ticket for Peterhead and attend every game.
