Juventus scupper Liverpool’s plans to sign quality midfielder

GundoganLiverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have sunk plenty of drinks in celebration since Jurgen Klopp’s appointment but it now appears they’re set to endure huge disappointment in the January market.

TalkSport state that Serie A giants Juventus are planning to beat Liverpool to the signature of Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan, who is tipped to leave Germany in the New Year.

The German international has been heavily linked with Liverpool ever since Klopp took charge at Anfield but Juventus believe a £14m bid when the window reopens will be enough to beat the Reds to his signature.

However, it’s stated Dortmund value the player much higher are not prepared to do business for anything less than £17.5m and, in an ideal world, they hope for £20m for the midfielder.

That leaves the door open for Liverpool to swoop but the growing interest is a problem for the Reds, as it’s also stated Manchester United and Arsenal are keeping tabs on Gundogan’s signature.
