The Daily Mail is reporting that Juventus is looking to splash the cash in the forthcoming transfer window and buy 2 players from the Premier League. The Italian side are reportedly lining up a £50 million purchase for Fernando Torres from Chelsea, and Nemanja Vidic from the current Premier League champions Manchester United.
Is this really likely to happen?!
Whilst the world of football is very unpredictable it is does not look like this transfer will happen.
Vidic has suffered terribly this season with a series of injuries. Firstly a knock in August sidelined him for 5 weeks followed by a season-shortening injury in December which prohibited him from playing in the rest of the campaign. It could be argued that Torres has had just a bad season by continuing unjustify his £50 million price tag.
Would Abromovich really take a loss in profits to get rid of the troubled striker? Well he sacked Villas-Boas after paying £20 million for his buy-out clause so it shows how the Chelsea Chairman does not care too much about the bills.
Despite this, if Di Matteo stays as Chelsea Manager, there would be no reason why Torres would leave as the interim Chelsea boss has publicly said that he is a fan of Torres. This has been shown by his increased form which led to him scoring 3 goals in 5 games. Considering that Torres had not scored in over 24 hours of playing time, it clearly showed that he had a hit a burst of form.
Likewise, although Vidic is injury prone, there is no reason for Sir Alex Ferguson to get rid of his captain. Despite playing only 6 Premier League games this season, Manchester United have not lost when he has started and managed to achieve 16 out of 18 points whilst he is playing. This clearly shows his effectiveness and value to the team.
Whilst it is unlikely that this pairing will be seen at Juventus next season, it will be extremely likely to see the mega-rich team spring their way back onto the scene of Champions League football.
