Our Real Madrid fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted today to hear as reported by ESPN, that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez state that the Spanish giants have a buy back clause for Alvaro Morata who they sold to Juventus in 2014 for 22 million Euros.
After very successful seasons in Real Madrid’s youth teams Morata was promoted to the first team, however he struggled for regular playing time, and was subsequently sold to Juventus.
Since his move to Italy he has fulfilled the promise he showed in his younger years, netting 15 times last season including a goal on his return to the Bernabeu in the Champions League last season.
Perez has revealed to the Spanish media that the buy back clause is 10 million more than they sold him for, so effectively Madrid would have to pay 32 million euros for the 22-year-old’s return.
The tricky youngster has done himself no harm after netting a late winner for Juventus in a 2-1 win against Premier League leaders Manchester City in the recent Champions League match at the Etihad.
A few Real Madrid fans enjoying a beer here in the Tavern admit they would welcome Morata back to the club with open arms!
