Juventus target January swoop for Arsenal midfielder

ArtetaArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been so focused on tonight’s Champions League tie and who they could bring in during January that they have forgotten that outgoing deals may also be possibly.

Whilst it’s unlikely any big-names will be departing North London in the New Year, there’s a chance that fringe players could exit and leave Arsenal’s squad looking thin.

One of the latest reports sees Fichajes, who cite CalcioMercato, as stating Juventus are targeting Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta in the New Year.

Juventus have struggled this season after losing influential midfielders Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal in the summer and have explored a number of options, though they’ve all ended in disappointment.

Now it’s stated that Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri believes that 33-year-old Arteta can fill the void that Pirlo vacated in his side.

However, Arsenal are likely to sell as they value Arteta very highly for his behind-the-scenes impact at the club, although his playing days are drawing to a close and his options on the field at the Emirates are severely limited.

Arsenal fans, can you afford to lose Arteta? Let us know in the comments below!
