New speculation has surfaced today regarding the future of Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie, amid reports suggesting Juventus will make an audacious January bid for the striker.
Now, when fully fit, the Dutchman is without question Arsenal’s best attacking player, and one of the Premiership’s top goal-scorers. Unfortunately for the Gunners, Van Persie has not been fully fit for a long time now, and Arsene Wenger must these days rely almost solely on Marouane Chamakh to lead the line.
Despite his admiration for Van Persie, Wenger may nevertheless feel compelled at least to listen to offers for his injury-prone star, especially if he could get a good enough price to enter the market for a more dependable striker when the transfer window opens next week.
Well, Juventus are ready to make an offer of around £27m, which would be good enough, yet they’re also willing to throw Felipe Melo into the bargain, a tough-tackling midfielder who would be a welcome addition to Arsenal’s ranks.
Although Wenger would be loath to lose Van Persie, the Italians’ offer could simply be one he can’t refuse.
