The Daily Mirror today claim that a former Chelsea player could be coming back to the Premier League, causing excitement here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The publication note that Solomon Kalou, who of course won just about everything during his time at Chelsea including the Champions League, could well be about to come back to England and join West Brom. Steve Clarke of course knows the player well and worked with the forward during the Jose Mourinho era mark one. Now it seems Clarke fancies a link up again and is keen on bringing the player back to the top flight of English football.
Whilst Kalou left Chelsea on a high with the likes of Didier Drogba, the club do not want him back a second time and despite already rejecting an approach from West Ham and Sam Allardyce the player’s options are few and far between.
Kalou would be available for around £4 million and is desperate to return to England after a spell in France with Lille and even though he netted 14 goals last season, the player never settled and constantly attempted to engineer a move back to the Premier League. Both West Ham and West Brom have agreed the fee for the player and now it seems up to the 27 year old to decide where he wants to go – and given the rejection of the Hammers, it seems clear where Kalou will end up.
