Kante success should prompt FSG to move for Liverpool target as soon as possible

The Liverpool supporters in the Transfer Tavern believe their squad could be on the cusp of something special in the near future…

Jurgen Klopp’s side are beginning to demonstrate what a lethal force they can be moving forward. Liverpool may well sit well adrift of league-leaders Manchester City, but you wouldn’t have guessed it after watching some of their performances in recent weeks. The performances of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho of late suggest The Reds could be set to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Liverpool may even fancy their chances of lifting a sixth European cup this season, after they secured qualification to the knockout stages earlier this week. Considering the enormity of City’s lead already this season, the Champions League bizarrely looks like a more realistic ambition for the Merseysiders.

The resident Kopites could be set for a mid-season boost to their ambitions for the season, as The Daily Mail report that Klopp is plotting a move for OGC Nice’s in-demand star Jean Michael Seri.

The Ivorian international is a central midfielder by trade who can operate in a variety of different roles throughout the heart of the field.

Despite his versatility and rising reputation across Europe, the resident Kopites are slightly concerned by Liverpool’s interest in Seri because of his height.

Seri is only 5ft 4, and in a league as physical as the Premier League, his height could be perceived as a limitation to his potential success.

However, Liverpool supporters only need to look at the success of N’Golo Kante at both Leicester City and Chelsea to realise that his height could actually prove to be an advantage.

Kante also stands at 5ft 4, but in the past two seasons, the French international has proven that being below average in height does not pose a deterrent to success in the Premier League, after he became the first ever player to win back to back titles with two different clubs.

Before writing off Seri on the basis of his height, the Liverpool supporters should remind themselves of Kante’s success story in the English top flight.
